Missions – Mphatso Children’s Foundation ( NOW HANDED BACK TO THE PEOPLE)

THE MPHATSO CHILDRENS FOUNDATION HAS NOW BEEN HANDED BACK TO THE PEOPLE DUE TO GOVT. CHANGES.

ROBIN CASEY IS NOW BACK IN AUSTRALIA AND WOULD VALUE YOUR PRAYERS AS SHE RE ADJUSTS TO LIFE BACK HERE AFTER INVESTING MANY YEARS OF HER LIFE INTO MALAWI.

“Feed the Children, Grow the Community and Impact the Future”
Mphatso Childrenʼs Foundation was officially formed in April 2006 by
Robyn Casey. By using a community development approach,
Mphatso desires to come alongside the people of Malawi to enable
choices that empower them to escape the effects of poverty and grow
to their full potential in God.

Robyn first went to Malawi in 2002 on a short term mission trip and
fell in love with the people of Malawi. She knew then that she would
return to work alongside these people. In November 2004 Robyn left
Australia to begin her work in Malawi. Initially unsure of what she
would do there, Robyn was quickly moved by the plight of the young
children who were often without food for up to three days. One of her
ways of attempting to address this was to begin a nursery school.
Thus, the work of Mphatso had began. Mphasto (which means gift) is
the name the local people have given to Robyn Casey.

Today Mphatso Childrenʼs Foundation employs over 50 staff and runs
10 nursery schools in rural areas along the shores of Lake Malawi.
There are over 1000 children who attend these nursery schools. Not
only do they receive an education, but also a nutritious meal, which is
sometimes their only meal for the day. The work continues to grow,
with kids clubs, sewing groups, womenʼs ministries and HIV support
groups all weekly occurrences. Mphatso Childrenʼs Foundation also
provides student sponsorships, supports local sporting teams and
provides much needed emergency assistance in the form of piece
work, food, transport and help in accessing medical care.

In January, 2011, Robyn Casey was joined by the Johnstone family
(Mark, Lena, Jack, and Bethany). The Johnstoneʼs plan to spend
between two and four years at Kande Beach, expanding the work of
Mphatso. More of their story can be found in the ʻMeet the Teamʼ
section.

Your support is vital for the continuation of the work of Mphatso, and
is greatly appreciated. If you would like more information regarding
